Background of a Growing Restaurant Group and New Bakery Launch in Turkmenistan
Soyad is the founder of the “Altyn” restaurant group in Turkmenistan, a fast-growing mid-to-high-end hospitality brand operating across multiple cities. The group has successfully launched three established restaurants, with a strong presence in both dine-in and café-style dining formats.
At the time of this project, the group’s estimated annual revenue was in the range of USD 3–5 million, and it continues to expand steadily.
A fourth location—a premium bakery concept store—was under construction, scheduled to open between April and May 2026, while a fifth outlet was already in early planning stages.
The brand is highly active on social media, operating multiple Instagram accounts with tens of thousands of followers, placing strong emphasis on visual identity, packaging aesthetics, and customer experience.
The goal of this project was to upgrade the complete packaging system for the new bakery store, aligning it with the brand’s premium positioning.
Demand for Upgraded High-End Custom Bakery Packaging
The new bakery concept was designed as a premium dessert experience store, where packaging plays a central role in brand perception rather than serving as a simple functional container.
The required packaging system included a full range of customized SKUs:
- Pyramid-shaped gift boxes
- Cake boxes
- Bread and bakery boxes
- Dessert packaging sets
- Custom printed paper cups
The design direction focused on:
- Unified high-end visual identity system
- Complex structural packaging with strong shelf presence
- Social-media-friendly unboxing experience
The initial order covered approximately 6–8 different packaging SKUs, used for pre-opening validation and launch preparation.

Weak Responsiveness and Coordination Issues in Previous Supply Chain
Before working with Maibao, Soyad had collaborated with several regional packaging suppliers. However, the experience did not meet expectations.
Key issues included:
- Slow response times (often 48–72 hours or longer)
- Lack of transparency in sample confirmation cycles
- Limited coordination across complex customization requests
- Insufficient support for high-end packaging development
For a fast-expanding retail brand with strict store opening timelines, these inefficiencies directly affected business execution.
As a result, the focus shifted from cost-driven sourcing to finding a long-term strategic packaging partner capable of supporting scalable expansion.
Complex Premium Packaging Design and Production Challenges
This project presented a higher-than-average level of technical complexity.
Key challenges included:
- Precision engineering for pyramid-shaped structural boxes
- Integration of holographic and specialty surface finishes
- Multi-material combinations (board, coating, lamination, specialty film)
- Strict color consistency control across batches
In addition, cross-border communication limitations made structural validation and design confirmation more difficult, as physical evaluation could not be fully replaced by digital communication.
The project therefore required not only manufacturing capability, but also strong engineering collaboration and packaging solution expertise.
Faster Alignment Through Multilingual Communication and Sampling
To improve efficiency and reduce uncertainty, a multi-channel communication system was implemented:
- English and Russian bilingual support
- Real-time messaging combined with video calls
- Visual breakdowns of structural designs
- Short videos demonstrating prototypes and processes
In parallel, Maibao prepared multiple rounds of physical sampling prior to mass production, allowing the client to validate:
- Structural stability
- Material thickness and texture
- Print accuracy and color performance
- Unboxing and display experience
This approach significantly reduced decision-making time and shortened iteration cycles from days to hours.

Trust Built via Physical Samples and Factory Visit Collaboration
As the project progressed, Soyad conducted an on-site factory visit.
The visit was carefully organized and included:
- Full sample display and comparison sessions
- Step-by-step explanation of production processes
- Joint review across design, production, quality, and procurement teams
- On-site structural adjustments and real-time feedback integration
During the visit, the client actively evaluated multiple packaging solutions and confirmed key design directions directly with the team.
This immersive, co-creation approach provided full transparency into manufacturing capability and significantly strengthened trust in the partnership.
From One-Time Order to Long-Term Packaging Partnership
The project successfully resulted in the first confirmed production order, covering:
- Multiple bakery packaging categories
- Pyramid boxes, cake boxes, bread boxes, and paper cups
- Full support for new store launch preparation
Following delivery, the client expressed strong satisfaction with:
- Responsiveness and communication efficiency
- Structural and production quality consistency
- Overall service experience and solution capability
As a result, Maibao was confirmed as the preferred packaging partner for future expansion, including:
- The fourth bakery store (opening in 2026)
- The planned fifth store
- Long-term brand packaging system development
